How do you handle it when your loved one has lost their filter and makes inappropriate comments in public? My mom has always been a very friendly person. If you spent 20 minutes next to her, she would learn your life story. She also loves babies and kids. As she lost her inhibitions she would go right up to a baby at a restaurant or at the grocery store to say hello. She would try to touch them - a big taboo during COVID. She also makes comments about people who are overweight. on some level she knows it’s not appropriate and she’ll whisper. But, her whisper isn’t always very quiet. Sometimes her behavior is embarrassing to me. But more often I figure we will never see these people again and that she’s doing her best. We made business size cards that say “The person I’m with has Alzheimer’s. Please be patient. Thank you.” I haven’t actually handed one out yet.
