This is a subject we don't talk about much and I certainly wasn't prepared for the challenges that came when she could no longer take care of herself in the bathroom. I've made several discoveries that have made this task much easier to perform.
What has been required to support her as time has passed has changed as she has lost mobility and the ability to actually control own body. One of the very first aids that I found was accidentally at Sam's Club. I was browsing through the incontinence section when I discovered wipes for adults. These wipes are 8 by 12 instead of the tiny ones that you get when dealing with baby wipes. They are inexpensive and far superior to a wet washcloth or the smaller types of wipes. When we set up the commode in the computer room where she spends most of her time in order to avoid the dangerous trip across the whole of the bathroom, odor became a problem. Once again on the assumption that other people have had the same problem, I did a search on Amazon and discovered an amazing product. Bear in mind I do not recommend any product but I do share the products I have found to be very useful.

This product doesn't cover up the odor, it literally destroys it and it works amazingly. You can read the description on the Amazon website for a better understanding of how it works. Below is a link to this product.

dvellio My husband's "aim" isn't what it used to be. I have found this product great for the bathroom and for spraying in his portable urinal (plastic one that they give out at hospitals) when we have to use that when he is less mobile due to his brian swelling. Thanks for sharing your product that works!

When it became too dangerous for my wife to make the trip across the hall from the computer room to the bathroom we dug out the commode that had been stored in a closet since we had our knee surgeries and put it in the computer room. As you might imagine it did not always smell as fresh as you would like.
While it looks like it's currently unavailable if it becomes available again I've found this to be the perfect solution. There are other products that do the same thing but this is by far the most economical and it it is amazing how well it works. It doesn't cover up the odor it destroys it.
