ljeverett1 One idea I have is for you to check with the Department of Health and Human Services for your state. There is usually a department for Elder Services. Each state usually offers services to help caregivers and the help can be difficult to find. Sometimes there is a person who can come in for an hour ir two each week so you can take a break or get shopping or other errands done. Adult day health care is sometimes offered but if your Mom does not have MEDICAID it can be very costly. The Adult Day Health center my Mom attended and enjoyed was $100/day. They picked Mama up each morning and brought her home around 15:00 each day. The food was awful so I packed her lunch and snacks for each day. Mama does not have Medcaid. I applied for it for her thinking she would get approved and she was not so now there is just over $6,000 in debt. It was over $12,000 but I was able to find a person with the state who ran the community care givers grant program and praise God! She offered $6,000 in aid chopping Mama's debt in half. It is a tough situation. Also, check to see if Health and Human Services in your state offers any finsncial assistance programs that you may qualify for. There are many flaming hoops to jump through but you may be able to get cash, foodstamps, and Medicaid for yourself because you need to care for your Mom full time.
